Have you ever wanted to learn to sing? Or maybe, just fine tune your singing ability? If so, the Omaha School of Music and Dance is for you! Here at OSMD we offer group voice lessons, as well as, private one-on-one lessons.
Group Voice Lessons
Group voice lessons at the Omaha School of Music and Dance consist of a 45 minute lesson once a week. These classes are generally kept below 12-15 students per class to encourage a positive group learning environment with individual attention throughout. Our current group voice lessons consist of Children’s Choir and Musical Theatre.
Children’s Choir
Children’s Choir is for children ages 6-10. The choir is a great opportunity to work on your solo voice, as well as, your group voice. The director makes sure to offer many solo opportunities during each song that they work on. The director also focuses on the basics of proper breathing technique, singing posture and formation, pitch recognition, and proper vowel formations. The children’s choir performs in 1 concert per year in May at our annual recital.
Musical Theater
Have you always wanted to be a Broadway Star or perform in musical theater productions? Our Musical Theater classes help enhance your vocal and acting performance for being on-stage in a musical. Our classes are taught by university-trained performers who currently perform in musicals locally, as well as on the national stage. Our instructors teach all of the proper techniques to train students to sing wisely and project, while not causing damage to the vocal chords. Our production directors also teach methods on characterization, motivation, and movement.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are another great option for those who are ready to start learning to sing or to fine-tune specific vocal skills. Private lessons are available in a 30, 45, or 60 minute lesson each week. The best aspect of a private lesson is that the lesson will be tailored to your specific skill-set, goals, interests, and desires. The teacher will have the ability to work with you individually the entire time and to work on the things that will best help achieve your goals. Also, we have a wide variety of voice teachers with a plethora of scheduling options. Are you only available on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm? We have a teacher for you!
