4 Reasons to take Ballet Classes at the Omaha School of Music and Dance

This article will focus on our ballet classes. More specifically, we will focus on the four reasons we encourage everyone to take ballet classes at the Omaha School of Music and Dance.

The first reason anyone should take classes at the Omaha School of Music and Dance is our teachers. We pride ourselves on having some of the best teachers around. Our teachers have extensive experience in their field with performance and teaching experience. Currently our two ballet teachers are Jessie and Charity. Jessie has a rambunctious and spunky attitude who has received many awards during her dancing career. These awards include All-American Dance of the Year, Runner-Up at UDA Nationals, and captain of the Millard West Dance Team. Charity is passionate about child development and teaching in a positive, inspiring, and structured environment while sharing the beauty and art of dance. She also has extensive experience in ballet including studying under Jessica Smith of En L’air Dance Academy and under Valerie Roch of Omaha Academy of Ballet. Charity has received top honors from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing examinations.

The teachers at OSMD follow the Leap N Learn dance curriculum. Leap ‘N Learn is an effective, safe, progressive, and developmentally appropriate dance program for creative movement to beginning ballet. Designed by master teacher Beverly Spell and expert child psychologist Dr. Annie Spell, the curriculums combine the healthiest practices for teaching children ballet technique, while simultaneously encouraging pretend play amongst the youngest students to maintain a positive and nurturing environment.

Support Staff

One thing that you won’t find any many other studios is an office support staff. OSMD has a dedicated support staff to help our families with scheduling, to answer questions, and to help ensure everything runs smoothly. This is a nice addition to any dance studio as it ensures the teachers are focused on the students and creating the best classes possible. Parents are also able to get real-time answers to their questions.

The environment at the Omaha School of Music and Dance is fun and encouraging but also structured and professional. This ensures that students have a great time but also keeps them focused on learning in a safe and encouraging atmosphere.
