Lyrical dance is easiest described as a combination of jazz and ballet. It is faster than ballet, but not as fast as jazz. Our lyrical dance classes combine the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance.
Most lyrical dance pieces are performed to music with lyrics and the lyrics of the song are what the choreography of the dance is based on. The songs chosen usually express very strong emotions, like love, joy and anger.
Lyrical dance is a very fluid and relaxing way to express emotion through dance. It is a very passionate form of dance that many students learn is a great outlet and release of emotion. This type of class builds off of skills that are typically learned in ballet and jazz classes, so we like to recommend that student have a background in either or both of those styles to really benefit from this type of class.
Lyrical dance classes can start at the age of 8-adult. Classes are 45 minutes long and are limited to only 12 students per class. Our classes are kept small so that our students can be given appropriate attention from our instructors and learn without being distracted.
Our instructors are experienced and trained to teach lyrical style dancing, so your child will continue learning and perfecting their skills in lyrical dance.
