If you are interested in learning about lyrical dance in Omaha, then you have come to the right place! The Omaha School of Music and Dance is a great option for those interested in lyrical dancing techniques.
What is Lyrical Dance?
Lyrical dance is a style that combines ballet and jazz dancing techniques. It is performed to music with lyrics so that it inspires expression of strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics of the song. This style concentrates on an individual approach and expressiveness of such emotions as love, joy, and anger. It does not concentrate on the dancer’s precision of movement.
Class Options
The Omaha School of Music and Dance offers lyrical dance at our studio at 144th and Dodge. Currently our lyrical class is held on Tuesday nights from 6:30 – 7:15pm for ages 9-12. We also offer various ballet and jazz class options if you are interested in starting an introductory class in ballet or jazz before moving to lyrical dance.
Why the Omaha School of Music and Dance?
The best part of the Omaha School of Music and Dance is our personalized attention and small class sizes. Our lyrical class usually has fewer than 12 students in each class. This ensures that the teacher is able to work with each student and help them achieve their dance goals individually while also helping the group perform together.
Our teachers are also university educated with extensive performance experience. Our current lyrical teacher is Miss Charity. Charity has performed for most of her life studying dance under Jessica Smith of En L’air Dance Academy and Valerie Roche of Omaha Academy of Ballet. Charity has also performed for the Omaha Community Playhouse, earned scholarship to Omaha Academy of Ballet, and was accepted into Kirov Academy of Ballet and Briansky Center for Ballet in New York. As a mother and an instructor, Charity is passionate about child development and teaching in a positive, inspiring, and structured environment while sharing the beauty and art of dance.
