Woodwind Instruments
Instruments that fall into the “woodwind” category are the flute, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, and oboe because they have a wooden reed that vibrates when a person blows into or across the mouthpiece. Woodwind instruments are often found in orchestras and school-aged bands, and help strengthen ones breathing, improve posture and hand-eye coordination, relieve stress, and helps develop confidence in children and adults. These classes are offered for 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour, once per week. Read more on ages in starting a woodwind instrument and days available to schedule at our website linked here.
Brass Instruments
Our private brass lessons include trumpet, french horn, trombone, and tuba instruments, which produce sound by sympathetic vibration of air in a tubular resonator in sympathy with the vibration of the person’s lips. Brass instruments are most often played in orchestras or ensembles, as well as school band programs. Omaha School of Music and Dance is helpful in preparing children and adults who want to become a soloist or for school-aged marching bands and band testing reach their full potential. These classes are offered in 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour, once per week. See more on our age limitations and days brass lessons are taught at our website linked here.
Drums & Percussion
The percussion section keeps the rhythm for the audience to follow along, as well as adds special sounds with color and excitement. At Omaha School of Music and Dance, we offer two acoustic drum sets, with our teachers ready for beginners all the way to very advanced. Children and adults will perfect timing, rhythmic coordination and in some cases, enable ambidextrousness. Many benefits accompany learning the drums as it creates a feeling of connectedness, reduces stress, tension, and anxiety, as well as exercises both hemispheres of the brain.
