Voice Lessons

We have many students who take private voice lessons and musical theater classes. Students sing many types of music —from their favorite artists to classical arias.

Our voice teachers have university training in Vocal Performance and sing everything from pop and jazz to opera. Our vocal teachers all have performance backgrounds, and many have performed in musical theater shows on Broadway!

Just a sample of what a student will learn in voice lessons will include:

• How to breathe properly
• How to increase their range
• Proper pitch
• How to project
• How to keep the voice healthy
• Stage presence

Only at Omaha School of Music & Dance will your singer be given a minimum of two performance opportunities with our Spring and Winter music recitals. Many of our students also perform at local festivals, sporting events, and as part of honor choirs.

Our one-on-one, private voice lessons can vary in length depending on each student’s musical goals. We offer class sessions that are 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour.

All students who take private voice lessons meet with their vocal teacher one time per week for the selected amount of time. Singers begin by warming up their voices and then move on to the set curriculum for the day that the teacher has selected for the student to work on. These usually include skill-building exercises. Our vocal music teachers use full pieces of music as a way to demonstrate how to apply these skills.
