Viktoria Matheson

Violin/ Viola/ Cello

Viktoria Matheson holds a Bachelor’s of Instrumental Music Education from the esteemed Oklahoma City University’s Wanda L Bass school of music and a Masters of Viola Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma. While UCO, she served as the Graduate Assistant to the Strings Department and Broadway tonight who brought in such stars as Shirley Jones, Patrick Cassidy, and Carol Welsman. She currently is the Elementary Strings Specialist in Westside Community Schools.

As a child and young adult, Viktoria moved several times and toured the world playing either her violin or viola. She has travelled all over Europe and visited China in 2004 when the OCU orchestra was invited to participate in the Beijing Music Festival. In 2005, she was one of 32 students chosen nationwide to tour Europe with the International Mission on Music that was staffed and sponsored by the Julliard School of Music. Then in 2006, she attended the Viola Congress in Montreal, Quebec, Canada where she had masterclasses with Robert Slaughter of Ball State University, and Siegfried Führlinger of the Vienna School of Music. Viktoria has studied under such violin and violists as Chuck Hogue, Dr. Marianna Gabbi, John Arnold, Donna Cain, and Dr. Ralph Morris. You can also hear her play on CD with the Fort Smith Arkansas Symphony’s recordings of the William Grant Still Symphonies with whom she played professionally with for five years. In addition, she currently sits Principal Violist of Orchestra Omaha.
