Originally from Los Angeles, California, Sergio, is a violist and educator with a passion for helping students find their unique musical voice.

A 2025 Latin Grammy Nominee
In 2025, Sergio Carrillo reached a career pinnacle as the featured soloist on the album Suite de la Verde Vida, which received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Classical Contemporary Composition. His work on this project, in collaboration with the University of Costa Rica Symphony Orchestra, showcases his mastery of the viola and his dedication to bringing new music to life.

A Legacy of Excellence
Before moving into this exciting new chapter of his career, Sergio served for 28 years as the Co-Principal Viola of the Aguascalientes Symphony Orchestra, Mexico and was a long-time Professor of Viola and Violin and Chamber Music Coach at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes. As a member of the award-winning José White String Quartet since 1998, he has traveled the globe, performing, teaching and recording over 17 albums.

Inspiring the Next Generation
Having studied with legendary masters like Jerry Horner of the Fine Arts Quartet, and holding a Bachelor of Music in Musical Pedagogy, Sergio Carrillo understands the importance of a strong musical foundation. Whether he is performing for thousands or working one-on-one with a student, his goal remains the same: to foster a lifelong love for the arts through grit, growth, and—most importantly—fun.
