Omaha School of Music and Dance is located at 14505 California Street Omaha Ne, 68154. We offer a variety of music and dance classes at different times to allow for a time for everyone. One of the dance classes that is very popular is our Acro dance classes. Acro dance is a type of dance that combines classical dance techniques with acrobatic elements. It helps establish athletic ability with the leaps and turns with gymnastic quality moves. As of right now, we offer preschool and kinder acro classes but hope to expand for more ages as we grow and interest grows within the families we have.
This type of dance uses strength and establishes flexibility in order for our dancers to perform gymnastic-based tricks. They learn balance and coordination as well. By allowing your child to take an acro class so young, you help them to develop their foundational strengths that can build muscles and so they can exert their strength to lift their bodies.
The students usually wear leotards and tight-fitting clothing when performing acro dance just so the teachers are able to observe them better and they are able to perform the stunts and dance moves with nothing getting in their way.
Our teachers are highly trained in stretching out the young student’s bodies to avoid injury and allow a cool-down time for the students to recover from their workout.
There is also an opportunity for the students to participate in an end-of-the-year recital usually held during the summer. They are taught a routine and will perform it in front of friends and family in a new dance costume. At the end of the recital, the student is awarded a medal/trophy to show how hard they have worked all year.
